What Our Ratings Actually Mean

We get asked about our scores a lot, so here's the plain version. A rating on Maple Play is one person's honest read after real playtime — not an average of features, not a marketing-friendly rounding.

Anything above 4.5 means we'd recommend it without hesitation and probably still have it installed. The 4.0 to 4.4 range is 'genuinely good with a caveat or two.' Below 4.0 means we enjoyed parts but had real reservations.

We don't grade genres on a curve. A cozy sim and a hardcore strategy game are judged by how well they do what they set out to do, not against each other. A great casual game can outscore a mediocre epic, and that's fine.

Scores are the least interesting part of a review, honestly. Read the paragraphs — that's where the actual opinion lives. The number is just shorthand for people in a hurry.
